Working with files and folders

This page covers the everyday actions you will use in E-Folder; uploading, sharing, and managing files and folders. Unless stated otherwise, everything here applies the same way across the Public, Division, and Private folders.

Opening a folder

From the E-Folder home screen, double-click any of the four folder cards to open it. Once inside, you will see a list of all the files and subfolders it contains. You can use the search bar at the top to find something by name, or click Filter to narrow down the list.

Adding files and folders

You can add content from anywhere in E-Folder using the + New button at the top right. Click it and choose what you want to create or upload:

  • A new subfolder
  • Upload files from your device
  • Upload an entire folder from your device
  • Create a new Word, Excel, or PowerPoint document directly in E-Folder — no upload needed

If you click + New from the home screen, a window will open asking you to choose which folder the new content should go into. If you are already inside a folder, it will be added there directly.

Alternatively, click the ··· on a folder card from the home screen and select New Folder, Upload Files, or Upload Folder to add content directly into that folder.

💡 Note: In the Shared with Me folder, you can only add files if the owner has given you Write permission, in which case the option will appear when you are inside that shared folder.

File actions

To act on a file, click the ··· menu next to it. The options that appear depend on the folder you are in and the permissions you have.

Edit opens the file so you can make changes directly in the system. Download saves a copy to your device. Export to PDF converts the file to PDF format — useful when you need to share a finalised version. Move lets you relocate the file to a different folder within E-Folder. Shared Users shows everyone the file has already been shared with and what permission they have.

To share a file, select Share from the menu. Sharing is covered in full on the Sharing Files and Folders page.

💡 Note: In Shared with Me, the actions available depend on your permission. With Read permission you can only download the file. With Write permission you can also edit, export to PDF, and share it.

Deleting a file

Click ··· next to the file and select Delete. You will be asked to confirm before anything is removed. Deletion is permanent — there is no recycle bin, so once a file is deleted it cannot be recovered. Make sure you no longer need it before proceeding.
